I always expected the relatives of our beloved Indian Gypsy girl, would come to visit her one day. But never imagined such a wonderful meeting would refresh our glorious memories.
This has been the most important cultural event ever to happen in Gaziantep. The last one was during the wedding of Talmi-Teshup, great-great-grandson of Suppiluliama, King of the Hittites, where all the kings and wise men in the region and ten thousand people enjoyed a great feast! But this was three thousand years ago!
For the past two decades Gaziantep has enjoyed a unique reputation for its highly developed industry and rich trade.
Now we are proud of our interest in the nearby ancient cities. We preserve and protect all the world heritage that we have. We have a great deal more to explore!
It is the inspiration of our mayor Dr. Asım Güzelbey that has given us the impetus to explore our culture and history more than ever.
Besides being a mayor he has acted as a volunteer Foreign Minister expanding our vision and understanding of the new world.
Wishing you a pleasant and enjoyable stay and in Gaziantep.

"Our primary objective is to contribute to world's peace. We are honored to host this meeting in Gaziantep” said Dr. Asım Güzelbey, Metropolitan Gaziantep Municipality Mayor and stated, "As we are gathered here, in a city on the silk road, we painfully acknowledge the horrible conditions of sister silk road cities; Damascus and Aleppo. I would like to draw your attention to the senseless distruction of these cities. History and cultural heritage are being annihilated. I wish this meeting would be an opportunity to create conditions for world peace."
